Thecacera sp. 02 Genus: Fleming, 1828

Thecacera sp. 02 is characterized by its translucent purple background colour covered with large rounded orange spots.
The extrabranchial and extrarhinophoral processes are basally of the same colour as the body, merging in the outer part into darker purple, the apices are opaque white.
The rhinophores are of the same colour as the body, but darker. The gills are translucent with a purple tinge and orange edges.
There is no similar species within the genus Thecacera.
A specimen from Raja Ampat, Indonesia was the Opisthobranch of the Week at Michael D. Miller's Slug Site on 02 June 2008.
