This is an undescribed dendronotid of the genus Hancockia. I call it for now Hancockia sp. 01.
It has a pinkish body colour, mottled with brown and tan. The lateral appendages are unbranched and have
rounded tubercles on their surface. There is a distictinctive brown patch with an opaque white spot basally at the
dorsal base of the lateral appendages.
It is at least pretty similar to Hancockia sp. 2 in IPN:
Gosliner, Terrence M., David W. Behrens & Ángel Valdés. 2008. Indo-Pacific Nudibranchs and Sea Slugs.
Sea Challengers Natural History Books.
Gig Harbor, Washington. 426pp. at page 324
The first specimen (pictures 1-3) was identified by David W. Behrens, thanks!
Like all members of this genus has it "pulpit-like" rhinophores with a lobate sheath a tapering club that ends
in a rounded club.
Originally posted at these website as Hancockia sp. A Genus: Gosse, 1877.
For some genera, such as Trinchesia is the alphabet almost through. I had to change the distinguishing
alphabetic character into a number. I have chosen 2-digit numbers, even if '01' looks a little bit stupid, and now is
only the genus italic written.
