Okenia kendi is characterised by eight pairs of marginal papillae and a single medial papillae in front of the gills. The upper half of these appendages is purple, followed by a brown band, and yellow at the base. The rhinophores are brown, the gills are brown with a yellow base. The mantle is white and there are broad brown bands from the rhinophores to the tail. Okenia kendi is named after the Tagalog (Philippine language) word for candy.
