There are some similar coloured chromodorids which Bill Rudman calls the "Chromodoris splendida, C. aspersa and Hypselodoris placida colour group". Chromodoris aspersa is characterised by a mantle border which varies in colour from pale yellow to almost orange and purple spots on the mantle which are usually edged with a band of faint washy purple. The rhinophores and gills are orange/yellow.
