Ceratosoma trilobatum (Gray, J.E., 1827) [Doris]

At Gato Island, pretty close to Malapascua Island you find dozens of sea-slugs during each dive. Here I discovered strange colour variants of Ceratosoma trilobatum. Pretty similar are Ceratosoma tenue which can have very similar colour patterns but 5 lateral lobes and Ceratosoma gracillimum which also has 3 lateral lobes but no mantle edge between the head and the lobes. Ceratosoma trilobatum has only 3 of them: one behind the gills and one large lateral lobe on each side of the body, just anterior to the gills - as this shot shows.
More informations on Ceratosoma trilobatum are at Bill Rudman's Sea-Slug Forum!
