The posterior end of the foot of Aplysia juliana can form a distinctive sucker. When the animal crawls along it can use the sucker to anchor itself, then greatly extend its head and neck.
One of the most common colour forms of Aplysia juliana is light olive to brown with pale spots, this colour form of Aplysia juliana is brown with darker brown blotches. It is associated with Aplysia sibogae Bergh, 1905, which is considered a synonym.
Younger animals are lighter in colour with larger brown blotches.
